Dear Black People
Dear Black People,
It is undeniable that we are a resilient people. Through generations of adversity—much of it intentional, systemic, and cruel—we have endured, adapted, and continued to rise. Despite every attempt to diminish us, we remain. That alone speaks volumes about our strength, brilliance, and unmatched perseverance.
Recently, I was reminded just how necessary our dignity is in moments of public disrespect. For a sitting President to create and circulate a vile, distasteful message about a former President, the only one of color —especially one that associates any human being with an animal—is not only outrageous, it is deeply telling. It exposes a lack of character, restraint, and basic human decency.
Class, as they say, cannot be bought.
Leadership without integrity is simply noise with power behind it.
Black people have long been subjected to dehumanization, caricature, and coded language meant to strip us of our humanity. We know too well where this rhetoric leads. That is why we must remain clear-eyed, grounded, and unwavering in who we are. We do not need to stoop to prove a point. Our history, our excellence, and our continued survival already speak for us.
Let us continue to move with intention, wisdom, and self-respect. Let us teach our children that leadership is not defined by volume or cruelty, but by character, accountability, and compassion. And let us never forget that our humanity is not up for debate, comparison, or mockery.
We have come too far—and we are far too powerful—to be distracted by the absence of class in others.
We built this United States of America. Let us not forget.
With clarity and conviction,
