✨ Still Overflowing with Gratitude ✨

It was a tremendous honor to serve as the keynote speaker for the L’Ouverture School Reunion - General Assembly in McAlester, Oklahoma this past weekend. 🙏🏾💙 I was deeply humbled by the invitation extended by my longtime friend Rosalyn Jones and L'Ouverture Alumni Association, and even more honored to stand in a place filled with such legacy, love, and history.

I want to extend a very special thank you to my brilliant business partner, Starr Fisher, who introduced me so gracefully before I took the stage. She traveled alongside her beautiful daughter, Honour Rose, and I’m so grateful for their presence and unwavering support.

One of the most touching moments was reconnecting with Evangelist Ester Holzendorf, a proud graduate of L’Ouverture, a powerful prayer warrior, and someone who has been incredibly encouraging to me personally and to The Greenwood Beat – WFPG. She’s doing amazing work in Kansas and it was a blessing to snap a photo with her and catch up. 💐📸

I also had the joy of seeing Dr. Charles Thomas, an accomplished educator in New York and a proud product of L’Ouverture. He brought me to tears when he shared a beautiful memory of my grandmother, Wilma Factory Phifer Green—“Grandma Tee”, who was also a student at L’Ouverture. His words reminded me of the legacy I carry. Dr. Thomas also helped me with a summer program during one of his trips back home for a past reunion—a true educator and pillar in our community.

As I reflect on all of this, I’m reminded that we have a duty to preserve and elevate the legacy of L’Ouverture. The graduates who’ve kept this reunion going are in their 70s, 80s and 90s—they’ve been holding the torch for decades. 🙌🏾🔥

To those with ties to McAlester, now is the time.
Let’s come together.
Let’s lift up our elders.
Let’s renew our pride in who we are and where we come from.

Let’s ensure that the name L’Ouverture continues to shine for generations to come. 💛🖤
