Before You Count Him Out — Try Jesus for Yourself

There’s a viral video clip circulating of Toni Braxton speaking to her sister about the Bible, sparking debates, discussions, and strong opinions across social media platforms. And while everyone is certainly entitled to their own beliefs, I feel moved to share my personal truth, not as a theologian or a preacher, but as someone who has experienced the power of calling on the name of Jesus.

Let me be clear: Jesus is my Lord and Savior.

This declaration isn’t rooted in what I’ve read alone. It’s grounded in what I’ve lived. It’s rooted in late nights when my back was up against the wall and there was no one—no one—I could call to save me from the mess I was in. I wasn’t looking for a performance. I wasn’t looking for religion. I needed a Savior. And when I cried out, He answered.

I’ve tested God—just like the scriptures allow—especially in my finances. One of my greatest testimonies is tithing 20% of my income when I was only making $7.25 an hour. Logically, it didn’t make sense. But what I discovered was a God who is faithful, who supplies all my needs, and who honors obedience. That’s not a theory. That’s a testimony.

See, there was a time I believed in Jesus... but I didn’t know Him. I didn’t understand that it was His grace, His mercy, and His favor that had carried me through childhood, heartbreak, poor decisions, and survival-mode living. But when I reached the end of me—when I needed to be saved from sin, from shame, from bad decisions, and honestly, from myself—that’s when I finally craved a covenant with Him more than anything else.

So before you jump on the next trending take, or dismiss Jesus as outdated or irrelevant—try Him for yourself. Not in theory. Not in debate. Not through someone else's opinions. Try Him when the world gets quiet. Try Him when your soul is searching.

You don’t need a crowd.
You don’t need perfection.
You just need a moment of honesty—and a whisper of His name.

Jesus. Jesus. Jesus.

He’s not just in the scriptures. He’s alive in the hearts of those of us who know what it’s like to be rescued.
